Values

Regather Co-operative always aims to;
- Create local employment
- Support fair trade and fair pay
- Re-invest profits in local services
- Equitably distribute profits to co-operative members
- Trade in locally produced goods and services
- Maintain quality assessed levels of service
We can achieve the above through the following means;
- Self help – the idea that people working collaboratively are active agents in creating new worlds.
- Fair shares – the equitable distribution of the earned surpluses between employees, consumers and the communities in which they live.
- Work organisation – a commitment to collaborative rather than hierarchical work organisation and to the quality of working life.
- Democracy – achieved through joint ownership and collaborative self-government.
- Social value – the commitment to quality and a recognition of the social and environmental value of co-operative production.
- Economic success – through the combination of commercial efficiency and co-operative values.
As a co-operative, we also subscribe to the following 7 principles of Co-operative working;
1. Voluntary and Open Membership
2. Democratic Member Control
3. Member Economic Participation
4. Autonomy and Independence
5. Education, Training and Information
6. Co-operation among Co-operatives
7. Concern for Community
(For a more in depth explanation of what these principles mean please see co-operative.coop or co-operantics.co.uk)
