Description
Come and join Rachel at Regather Farm, just outside Sheffield in the Moss Valley, for a morning or evening of picking your own flowers. You’ll get hands-on tips on choosing the best stems, how to condition them once cut, and plenty of time to wander the fields and fill your bucket at an easy, unhurried pace before heading home with an armful of blooms you picked yourself.
Each session runs through the height of summer, from July to September, when the fields are at their fullest — think cosmos, dahlias, sweet peas, zinnias and whatever else is looking its best that week. No two sessions are quite the same, since you’re picking what’s actually in flower rather than a fixed list.
The Pick Your Own events are hosted out on the working farm, so it’s not suitable for anyone with difficulty walking on uneven ground. Wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing — sessions go ahead in most weather and are only cancelled if conditions become unsafe. Compost toilets are available on site, and there’s a pack shed shelter as well as polytunnels, though most of the picking happens out in the open field.
FAQs
What’s included in the ticket? One ticket covers one bucket of flowers (50+ stems) shared between up to two attendees, plus guidance from Rachel throughout. Want your own bucket rather than sharing? You can add an extra bucket at checkout.
Is it suitable for children or beginners? Yes — no flower-growing experience is needed. Just bear in mind the farm has uneven, working-farm terrain, so it’s best for children who are confident walking outdoors.
What should I bring or wear? Sturdy shoes and clothes to protect you from the weather. Tools and buckets are provided. You might want to bring your own gloves or your favourite snips.
Where is Regather Farm? Lightwood Lane, Sheffield, S8 8BG. The farm gate entrance can be found via what3words: ///onions.asks.frosted.
What happens if it rains? Sessions are all-weather and will only be cancelled if conditions turn genuinely dangerous, so come prepared for a bit of British summer.
